Private Lessons
Beginner Lessons
Lessons will cover a variety of musical skills, including reading music, theory and notation, chord building, major and minor scales, and aural training. Students will learn to play note and chords starting with simple melodies and move on to more complicated pieces as they develop their musical skills. Students will be encouraged to listen to recordings given to them by the instructor, and learn about digital technologies in music. Students will also learn about their instrument and how to properly care for it. (Students must be age 8 or older for guitar lessons.)
Intermediate Lessons
Expands on foundations covered in Beginner Guitar instruction. Students will learn about the influence of guitar music in both historical and contemporary settings, learn to recognize techniques aurally, perform for small audiences, learn to play in different styles, and perform full songs. Placement in Intermediate Guitar studies is determined by the instructor.
Music Tutoring/Music History Tutoring
Tutoring and instruction in music history and basic music theory available on request.
Studio Technology (age appropriate; requires instructor approval)
Beginner course for students interested in live sound and recording technology. Students in this course will learn how sound systems operate, how to set up professional equipment properly, and the differences between analog and digital components including how to use each independently and together. This course prepares students to become sound technicians both in the recording studio and during live performances.
